Each greeter window reads background_<screen name> and falls back to
the shared background. udt-accent writes the per-screen keys from
wallp's state, so the login screens match the desktop.

Read the login avatar from the `avatar` key udt-accent writes, the same
~/.user-icon.jpg hyprlock draws, when the entered username matches
`avatarUser`. Any other user still gets their AccountsService icon.
Shrink the avatar from 256px to 180px so greeter and lock match.

Bind each field's focus to the stage so the greeter's window
activation has a focus target and focus follows the stage switch.
The startup focusStage() ran while the view was still hidden, where
forceActiveFocus() is dropped, so re-ask once from a short one-shot
timer after the view is on screen.
Verified in sddm-greeter --test-mode: username focused at start,
password focused after advancing.

The greeter draws the AccountsService account icon while the hyprlock
theme draws ~/.user-icon.jpg, so one login shows two different images.
Record the work to read the UDT avatar instead, and to settle the size.

ShaderEffectSource had no explicit width/height, so its texture was
0x0 and the frosted layer never drew, at any blurMax. Set it to the
panel size. Also correct blur to its 0..1 range and hide the mask,
which is a mask source, not content.

The hover highlight was surface0 on a dark panel, effectively
invisible. Use an accent-tinted rounded highlight and scale the icon
1.25x on hover.
|
|
Greeting wraps so it stays inside the panel, and the power buttons
gain a hover effect (icon scales and the surface highlights).
|
|
|
|
Default panelWidth drops to 0.20, the clock grows to 76px and the
avatar to 128px, the confirm and back controls draw chevron icons
instead of text arrows, and the panel backdrop blurs harder
(blur 1.0, blurMax 72).

|
Draw a resolved icon-theme icon in the colours the theme ships; only
the bundled fallback line art stays tinted to the palette.
The session ComboBox read the system palette for text, background and
the indicator, so its label was near-invisible and the double arrow
came out an unrelated colour. Set buttonText/button/window/dark and
the placeholder colour on the selector and the credential fields.

This system is administered from a root shell, not sudo. In that shell
$HOME is root's, so the theme.conf.user symlink uses the login user's
literal home path instead, with a note on why.
|
|
The install block ran in a root shell, where ~ and $HOME expand to
/root, so the symlink pointed at /root/.local/share/udt and the
greeter silently fell back to theme.conf and the bundled power icons.
Run the block with sudo from the user's shell, and drop the obsolete
LoginCard.qml on upgrade.

Quote the comma-bearing dateFormat default; QSettings reads an
unquoted comma as a QStringList and SDDM's stringValue() then returns
the empty string, leaving the value inert. Note the caveat in the
README Panel section.
Set activeFocusOnTab per credential stage so Tab cannot reach the
offscreen, transparent field and silently append to the submitted
value. forceActiveFocus() ignores activeFocusOnTab, so focusStage()
still lands focus in each stage.
Apply the remaining review fixes: compare the PowerBar fallback as a
string, animate the back chevron width, give both opacity behaviours
an OutCubic easing, gate the clock timer on panel visibility, clamp
panelWidth to 1, and reword stale "card" prose to "panel".

Draw the greeter as a full-height left panel with a clock, greeting,
avatar, a staged username-then-password slot, a power row and the
session selector at the bottom. Delete the centered login card.

Six tasks across sddm-theme-udt, unified-desktop-theme and quickshell:
resolve the power icons in udt-accent, add the panel config keys, draw
the power bar from them, add the staged credential slot, build the
panel and swap Main, and track the icon-theme trigger follow-up.
|
|
Supersede the centered-card layout of the original design with a
full-height left panel: clock and date, greeting, avatar, a staged
username-then-password slot, a power row whose icons udt-accent
resolves from the gsettings icon theme, and the session selector at
the bottom. Record the four new config keys and the cross-repo files.

SDDM 0.21 loads /etc/sddm.conf.d before /etc/sddm.conf, so the later
file wins: the stock Current=breeze overrode the udt drop-in and the
theme never applied. Document editing /etc/sddm.conf directly, and
blanking InputMethod= to stop the virtual keyboard popping over the
greeter, which the theme cannot switch off itself.
