26 hoursfeat(install): skip the palette run when udt has already done itDanilo M.1-7/+20
udt's install.sh calls this script now, so that a scheme switch reaches all three generated files rather than only the stylesheet. It has run udt-palette immediately beforehand, so UDT_PALETTE_DONE=1 says so and this script does not repeat it. Run directly, with the variable unset, it still generates the palette first and works standalone. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
26 hoursfix: give the launcher a mark for each stateDanilo M.1-7/+9
The pill inverts on hover, so one mark could never work: filled dark it vanished on the dark hover background, filled light it would vanish on the accent pill at rest. Both halves of that shipped, one after the other. Removing the hover rule did not help either, because the GTK theme paints its own hover shade on the button node underneath. Declining to set a background does not leave the pill alone, it leaves that shade in charge. So the mark moves out of the image module and into CSS, where a background-image can be swapped per state: dark on the accent pill at rest, light on the dark pill hovered, with the hover background set explicitly rather than left to the theme. install.sh generates both tints from one source file, so they cannot drift apart in shape. That makes the launcher a custom module, since an image module's path is read once and CSS cannot reach inside it. Its format is a single space for the usual reason: an empty one draws no widget at all. install.sh also removes the file the old image module left behind. The prune only clears dangling symlinks, and that one was written as a real file, so nothing had been removing it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
27 hoursfeat: launcher to the DP-1 centre, hamburger for EnglishDanilo M.1-11/+14
The launcher sat in the centre of the DP-3 status bar, which is the narrow rotated screen. It moves to the middle of the DP-1 desktop bar, where the workspaces and the window list already live and there is room either side of it. Each bar object carries its own include list, so the module definition moves with it. English gets the hamburger back. The stock bar drew it with an emoji, which this module cannot do: it is an image module and takes a path, not text. So the emoji ships as an image instead, from Twemoji. Doing it the other way round, reverting to hyprland/language and its format-en text, would have brought the burger back at the cost of turning the Italian flag into an emoji too, and the real flag asset is worth keeping. flag-gb.svg had no reference left after that, so it is deleted, and install.sh removes the copy an earlier install left behind. The docs carried three claims that were wrong rather than merely stale: the launcher was listed as a CSS background when it has been an image module since the mark was fixed, and SPEC still described the udt role work as adding roles named after this bar's modules when what shipped was deleting eleven roles nothing read. The dot colours were described as coming from [state] roles that gen_waybar never emitted. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
27 hoursfeat: move the desktop bar to DP-1, and add the mail moduleDanilo M.1-10/+14
The two bars were both on DP-3, which put the workspaces and the window list on a rotated 1080px screen while 2560px sat unused next to it. Status stays on DP-3 alone; the desktop itself moved to DP-1, where the window list has room. This replaces the stock bar rather than sitting beside it, so hyprland's autostart now launches this config instead of a bare waybar. ~/.config/waybar is left on disk, but nothing reads it. Mail comes over from the stock bar as the same notmuch watcher, minus the glyph: the envelope is a CSS background and the unread count stays text, because the count is the content rather than decoration, exactly like the clock. Its format carries a trailing space so the pill survives the empty state, since the watcher emits an empty text when nothing is unread and waybar draws no widget at all for a custom module whose output is empty. 27 hoursfeat: split the bar in two on DP-3Danilo M.1-10/+19
DP-3 is rotated, so a bar there is 1080px wide rather than 1920, and one bar holding every module was too crowded. Status sits on top now, the desktop itself along the bottom: workspaces on the left, open windows on the right. Both bars are one waybar process reading one stylesheet, because waybar takes a top-level array of bars, so the two cannot drift apart. Presentation mode is the statusctl-backed module the DP-1 bar already runs, rather than the wb-idle module written for this bar. It talks to files under XDG_RUNTIME_DIR instead of to quickshell, so it keeps working while the shell is down, and it already emits a state class, so the glyphs are simply dropped and the icon chosen in CSS. wb-idle and its module are gone. The module needs a format of one space. It defaults to "{text}", statusctl emits an empty text, and waybar draws no widget at all for a custom module whose formatted output is empty: not an empty pill, no pill. That is the same trap the launcher hit, and it cost a wrong diagnosis on the way: a min-height was added first on the theory that the pill was collapsing, which was treating a symptom of a widget that did not exist. A forced red background proved it was never drawn at all. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
31 hoursfix: make the launcher mark visible on its own pillDanilo M.1-3/+5
The mark was tinted with the accent and then drawn on the accent pill, so it rendered lavender on lavender and the pill looked empty. It takes the bar's background colour now, which is the contrast the pill was always missing. The pill also sized to its icon rather than to text, which made it a circle among capsules; its horizontal padding now matches its neighbours' shape. 31 hoursfeat: a waybar bar for DP-3, themed by udt and drawn with iconsDanilo M.1-0/+135
Builds the bar from scratch as a consumer of unified-desktop-theme: the palette comes from there, the layout and the modules live here. No font glyphs anywhere. Every symbol is a real icon from the icon theme GTK already uses, which needs all three of waybar's mechanisms because no single one covers everything: the icon-theme config key for the taskbar and tray, `image` modules driving wb-icon/wb-lang for volume, microphone, presentation mode and the keyboard flag, and CSS background-image for the workspaces, the clock pair and the launcher. The workspace icons have to be CSS because format-icons takes text rather than paths, and faking the strip with eight custom modules would have cost click-to-switch and the active and urgent states. The language flag goes the other way: hyprland/language styles as #language with no per-language class, so the flag could not be selected, and it is an image module. Icons keep their own colours: 2466 of the theme's 5169 panel icons carry a hardcoded gradient and are not recolourable, which is the intended look here. The two icons the theme lacks are shipped instead, and the monochrome Slackware mark takes the udt accent at install time. vms_dots.sh and privacy_dots.sh lived only in ~/bin, in no repository at all. They are versioned here now, symlinked back, and their hardcoded state colours read from the palette. Installs alongside the existing bar rather than over it, so DP-1 keeps working while this one is tried on DP-3. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
