Nerd Fonts patches developer targeted fonts with a high number of
glyphs (icons) from popular sets such as Font Awesome, Devicons,
Octicons, Material Design and the Powerline symbols.
By default this builds every patched family upstream releases, in
all three variants, into /usr/share/fonts/nerd-fonts/<Family>/.
That is a large package: about 600MB of downloads and several GB
installed. Two variables trim it at build time (all sources are
still listed in the .info, download only the ones you need):
FAMILIES space separated family names, default all of them
VARIANTS any of NerdFont, NerdFontMono, NerdFontPropo,
default all three
FAMILIES="Hack JetBrainsMono" VARIANTS=NerdFontMono \

A build with a single family is named after it, e.g.
FAMILIES=FiraCode produces ttf-nerd-fonts-firacode, so families can
be installed as separate packages side by side. Do not install a
multi-family package together with single-family ones holding the
same family, they ship the same files.

The symbols-only font is not included, it is available separately
